The Origin of the Word "Android" from Time to Time

Today, if anyone is asked about Android, surely 98% of the answers relate to the Smartphone OS which again dominates the cellular world. It's not the wrong answer, but it's incomplete. This lack of completeness may be changing or forgetting the true meaning of Android. Popularity is generally already going to change an initial term into a new term if when the last appearance is a big news.

Android is a term for a robot that is made like a human physically: has 2 legs, 2 hands, head, body, or behavior. This word comes from the Greek "andr-" which means "male", and the ending "-eides", which means "of the species; resembles" (of "eidos": species).

The Term of Android itself was used for the first time by a writer from France named Mathias Viliers de L’Isle-Adam (1838-1898) in his book Tommorow's Eve. In the book there is a story about a figure of artificial intelligence with a human-like shape named Hadaly. However, there are also people who agree if the origin of the name Android does not originate from a book by Mathias but long before that, namely between the 11th century to the 12th century precisely between 1193-1283 by a Catholic religious leader named Albertus Magnus. At that time Albertus Magnus had created a kind of sculpture that could answer simple questions from his students. The statue is a robot head made of brass and inside there are notes written by Albertus on sheets of paper. Since then many students have called the brass statue the name "Androides". The name Androides became famous until one day the French writer whose name was mentioned above had perfected the form of Androides and included the embodiment of Androides in the book Tommorow's Eve.

So an Android is an anthropomorphic robot - that is, it looks like a human. Most robot developers prefer to call it humanoids compared to Android. And in science futuristic films, the term humanoid is also used more often

Recorded in the media there are at least 106 human robot (Android / Humanoid) research projects from around the world, which are the World's greatest android projects. 49 in Japan, 11 in America, 11 in Korea, 9 in Germany, 7 in China, 4 in Britain, 2 in Sweden, 1 in Australia, 1 in Thailand, 1 in Singapore, 1 in Bulgaria, 2 in Iran, 1 in Italy, 1 in Austria, 1 in Spain, 1 in Russia, 1 in the United Arab Emirates, 1 in Canada and 1 in Turkey (Androidworld.com)

As for smaller scale android robot research there are around 73 research projects from around the world: 19 in Japan, 20 in America, 7 in Australia, 8 in the UK, 2 in Canada, 2 in Sweden, 1 in Germany, 2 in Hungary, 1 in Argentina, 1 in Brazil, 3 in Denmark, 1 in India, 1 in Mexico, 1 in Indonesia, 2 in Malaysia, 1 in Italy, 1 in Colombia, and 1 in China. Then why is the term Android used to name an operating system for a smartphone?

Android symbolizes a technological advance. Identical to intelligence and many abilities (multy task). This term is very representative for an intelligent, futuristic and multi tasking application system. It is only natural that the inventor of the smart phone operating system named the invention Android.

As with the technology that continues to develop and make improvements, so does the Android OS. Funny thing is, Android was not originally made for cellphones, but for digital cameras.

Android was originally under the auspices of Android, Inc. A company founded in 2003 by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears and Chris White. The headquarters is located in Palo Alto, California.
